RethinkPopMusic’s youngest band Ambassadors, is excited to announce that they are back and stronger than ever after a 2009 full of adversity. Ambassadors’ keyboardist (Casey Harris), who has been blind since birth, had to have a kidney transplant (from his mother) last November. The kidney disorder wasn’t discovered until he was a senior in high school and little is known about the disease because the correlation with vision loss is EXTREMELY rare. However, have no fear! Casey is back to 110% and the time off allowed Ambassadors to incorporate some new instruments into their already outstanding live show. The showcase at Santos Party House on 02/18 will be Ambassadors first since taking 3 months off following a very successful UK Tour and CMJ Showcase. RSVP and RethinkPopMusic will email you a secret link to download their first single “Tropisms” which was featured on mtvU The Freshman. Their self titled debut EP is slated for an early summer release.

The Vanguard‘s new video for ”Both Sides“ isn’t called both sides for nothing; the song combines the duality of a relaxing yet danceable and remix ready track, espescially with the acapella breakdown in the middle.

As for the video itself, who wouldn’t want to hang out in a prairie with dandelions in their hair, and get down with their band.

If they keep putting out tracks like “Both Sides,” this New York group could become serious fan favorite!

They are also giving away the mp3 for the mere price of you email address over at TheVanguardBand.com!

Tender Tots in a Blender

Hello Vanguardian Community!

How’s your summer going? Are you spreading joy and cheer and making strangers smile on a daily basis?

Oh, how is ours going? well, we’re so glad you asked because we have had a amazing summer and have an action-packed rest of the year planned (a full fall?). Let us tell you, that we want absolutely nothing more than to make each and every one of you a very integral part of the party. We’ll supply the music, Joe Mayo!

First off, we can announce that our not-so-Tender Hearts are playing the Blender Theatre - 127 East 23rd Street – on August 31st at 6:15pm. It’s an all ages (finally, we know!) early show and we are able to get you all in if you RSVP. You heard us, we’ll put everybody on the list – All you have to do is reply to this email ( contact@thevanguardband.co

m ). Pass this email to friends and have them RSVP too!

Also, next Friday, August 21st, we are partying with our good friends You Can Be a Wesley and the Ambassadors at Trash Bar in Williamsburg. Show starts at 8pm and there’s an open bar from 8-9pm. Tater Tots! We actually hit the stage at 10:45pm for those of you with tight schedules. Have your people contact our people, k?

Day three at pitchfork

The final day at pitchfork. Best weather so far. Started the day with Frightenend Rabbit and Blizten Trapper. Front of House sound was a little slow to get going on both stages, but stuff got balanced over time.

Wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of either sounds, I guess the performances really didn’t stick out and music wasn’t that that original or impressive. I guess I come pitchfork looking for uniqueness and undeniable talent.

The main stage has recieved a ‘flaming lips’ makeover, more stage lights, more color, should be awesome tonight.

I threw in a pic of a leopard I saw today, lookout!
